GLBT Fantasy Fiction Resources

Melusine

I'm a graduate student at Indiana University working on my MA/PhD in English literature. Officially, my areas of interest are Victorian studies and gender/sexuality studies. However, my free time is all about science fiction and fantasy. Hopefully, I'll be able to combine all of these interests in my career. I plan to write my dissertation on the works of H. Rider Haggard, a Victorian fantasist whose novels are full of tantalizing material for someone interested in gender.

I'll read just about anything, but some of my favorite (fiction) authors are Sarah Waters, Charles Dickens, George R.R. Martin, Gene Wolfe, Nicola Griffith, A.S. Byatt, Stephen Fry, Jeanette Winterson, J.R.R. Tolkien, Rachel Pollack, Emily Bronte, Octavia Butler, Stephen King, Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde... well, I could go on forever, and that's not even touching on poetry (Adrienne Rich, William Blake, Audre Lourde, T.S. Eliot, John Keats—don't get me started!).

I do enjoy writing, but these days it's (sadly) all lit crit. Maybe one day I'll go back to writing fiction and poetry myself. Other than reading, my time is devoted to music, cult TV, my lovely and brilliant partner, and our baby Oscar, The Best Cat Ever.
