In a dispute over e-book pricing, Amazon.com has halted all direct sales of Macmillan Books—including the Tor imprint—in both electronic and hardcopy format (though they're still available through third parties). The Perry v. Schwarzenegger trial has opened in California, the latest federal challenge to the Proposition 8 ballot initiative. Author Jewelle Gomez and her wife Diane Sabin were one of 18,000 couples married during the brief window of opportunity before Prop 8 passed. Award winning author Ursula K. Le Guin has resigned from the Authors Guild after almost forty years of membership to protest the Guild's settlement with Google over the digitization of books still under copyright.

Publication News: Norilana Books is slated to release an anthology of gender-bending fantasy called Scheherazade's Façade in October of 2010. In other news, after a ten-year hiatus, Alexander Jablokov has a new book due out in January of 2010 called Brain Thief (no queer protagonists, unfortunately).

Film rights for the first three books in Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series have been acquired by C-Squared Pictures. Work has already begun on a screenplay for Luck in the Shadows, though the company is still looking for financial backing for the project.

Publication News: Sarah Monette's next novel, tentatively called The Goblin Emperor, will be published under the pseudonym Katherine Addison. No publication date has yet been set, and no news on possible queer content.

Publication News: Santitos at Large, the sequel to Jacqueline Carey's erstwhile standalone novel, Santa Olivia, is scheduled for release in 2011. Carey has also written a novella about Anafiel Delaunay called "You, and You Alone" for the anthology Star-Crossed Lovers, edited by Gardner Dozois and George R.R. Martin, due out in 2010.
